Public transportation takes 20 minutes to reach the CBD and Orchard Road, and a 10-minute drive.
Historic structures, including conservation shophouses, are repository of memories since they have lived before and have a history of their own. Through the use of layers, Ministry of Design investigates history and our relationship to the past, present, and future in Canvas House at Blair Road.

By conceptually blending the lines between space and object, MOD covered Canvas House in a layer of white that hides the past and creates a blank canvas for the future. The house periodically reveals remnants of its past, including intricately carved pre-owned furniture, layers of exposed brick, and shadows of aged timber.

The studio's text-based neon piece Dream, which features a quotation from Thomas Jefferson that sums up MOD's approach to Canvas House, simultaneously asks viewers to envision the future. Colin notes that the quotation captures the mentality of the house: "It is a neutral white canvas for the future to be dreamed upon, rather than a total homage to the past."

The ancient Blair Plain neighborhood is for individuals who prefer a peaceful street with interesting locations to see close by because it is both close to the sea and the town.

The neighborhood is booming, energetic, and easygoing at the same time. It has a specialty coffee roaster, a renovated Peranakan mansion turned museum, and even a vintage barber hidden in an attic of a shophouse.
